Smart services and technology get cities moving

The statistics and predictions leave no doubt: the world is urban. By 2050, it’s expected that more than two-thirds of the world’s population will live in cities. Many of these urban locations have grown into megacities: Tokyo, Mexico City, Seoul, and Lagos, just to name a few, where populations soar into the tens of millions.

These metropolises capture our imagination with visions of striking skyscrapers, futuristic transportation hubs, and diverse demographics. They also conjure up images of bottlenecks, inefficiency, and pollution. Yet, cities are getting smarter. The solutions they innovate are tackling the challenges that come with expanding urban populations. For instance, with the help of digitalized services, cities are getting better at moving people through urban spaces.

MAX, for example, can be accompanied by AGILE Destination Controls, an enhanced dispatching system that directs passengers to the logistically most favorable elevator. This helps passengers reach their floor faster and ensures better flow, avoiding congestion – particularly helpful when trying to maintain social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also enables an energy-efficient use of elevators.

Additionally, this sort of “digital key” can create interfaces to new technologies like robots, which are increasingly found in storage facilities and need to navigate multiple levels. MAX in buildings around the world

MAX has already been installed in over 130,000+ elevators and escalators worldwide. Some exciting new buildings with MAX are in Brazil. Infinity Coast in Balneário Camboriú, completed in 2019, stands as one of the tallest buildings in the country at 234 meters high with 66 floors. The four elevators whisk passengers in just one minute to the roof thanks to the elevators' speed of 4 meters per second. Technology is one of the Infinity Coast's hallmarks and MAX will be implemented in 2020 to ensure optimal service levels.

The Birmann 32 in São Paulo, set for completion in 2020, will have the first elevators in Brazil with a speed of 7 meters per second. The project will also incorporate the technology to schedule the use of elevators according to the project's demand and the MAX technology.

And in Germany, in Frankfurt am Main, a beautiful new building 99 West will be able to show off its new innovations: 10 ultramodern elevators, 6 of which have a travel height of more than 95 meters, will be equipped with AGILE Destination Controls. All elevators will also be MAX-connected.
