Born in 1957 in Düsseldorf, studied business administration at the University of Cologne, earned doctorate at the University of Bonn.
After completing his studies, Dr. Hunsdiek became a research fellow at the Institut für Mittelstandsforschung Bonn and a lecturer at the University of Bonn. In 1987, he served as an assistant to the executive board at Bertelsmann AG in Gütersloh, Germany. After holding positions both within and outside of Germany, he assumed the role of head of the Group’s HR in 1991. In this capacity, he was responsible for global management development as well as all HR and social affairs activities.
In 2006, Dr. Hunsdiek joined thyssenkrupp AG as Executive Vice President and oversaw the successful creation of management development and the thyssenkrupp Academy. Most recently, his responsibilities included global manager and employee development, Total Rewards and performance management (including pension schemes), supporting the Top 250 managers and Learning & Transformation. From September 2007 to September 2009, he served as a member of the Supervisory Board of thyssenkrupp Elevator. In 2009, he joined the Supervisory Boards of thyssenkrupp Materials Services GmbH and thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG.
On 1 November 2017, Dr. Hunsdiek was appointed to the Executive Board of thyssenkrupp Elevator AG as well as to the position of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO).
